During South by Southwest, comedians Sarah Silverman, Michael Cera, Tim Heidecker, Eric Warehaim, and Reggie Watts launched their very own YouTube network called JASH. The first project from Cera comes in the form of a short film adaption of Bruce Jay Friedmans 1966 black comedy Brazzaville Teen-ager, which tells the story of a young man named Gunther (Cera), who tries to connect with his seriously ill father (played by Charles Grodin!) by doing something embarrassing. Specifically, he enlists his boss to sing backup to R&B singer Kelis — yes, the same Kelis who returned just yesterday with her first new solo single in three years. Even more random is the appearance by former Das Racist member Himanshu Suri (AKA Heems), who plays the studio engineer. God would I have loved to attend the cast party. Anyhow, check out the 19-minute short film below.
