chelsea wolfe pain is beauty Chelsea Wolfe announces new album, Pain Is Beauty

Following last year’s all acoustic album Unknown Rooms, Northern California singer-songwriter Chelsea Wolfe will return with her fourth LP, Pain Is Beauty, on September 3rd via Sargent House.

According to a press release, Wolfe was joined in studio by bandmates Ben Chisholm (who also served as co-producer), Kevin Dockter, and Dylan Fujioka. Musically, the 12-track album sees Wolfe return to the morose electronic vibe of 2011’s Apokalypsis. Conceptually, on the other hand, she takes a look back in time by exploring how “ancestry (and) the mythology, landscapes and traditions of our ancestors affect our personalities today.”

Wolfe added, “Honesty is what initially drew me to music, and I’ve been more honest and open with myself than ever through these songs. There is peace in truth. There is clarity in solitude. And there is power within simplicity and focus. Love is not always easy. Tormented love is something I understand more than society’s skewed idea of what love should be. Love is indelible, severe, earnest, merciful. To push forward against the odds is to make history”.

In support of the album, Wolfe has announced a North American tour for September. Consult her full schedule beneath the album’s tracklist.
