With their forthcoming sophomore LP, Imps of Perversion, New York noise-rock outfit Pop. 1280 promised a “tight web of manic synth-punk, bad-trip acid jams and bludgeoning industrial beats.” While lead single “Lights Out” was definitely in the “bad-trip acid jams” category, new single “Human Probe” exists within all three simultaneously. A veritable hodgepodge of concepts and sounds (guttural vocals, macabre synth, demonic surf-rock guitar, effects akin to screeching bats), the track’s disparate components work together in belying harmony to deliver a multi-sensory experience of sheer terror and aggression. Imps of Perversion is due out August 6th via Sacred Bones Records. In support, the band has several East Coast and Midwest dates lined up for September. Consult their full schedule below.
