A mere 72 hours after they dropped their first new single in nine yearsPixies have announced a world tour and a proper replacement for founder and longtime bassist Kim Deal.

The tour kicks off September 29th in Paris, FR and, according to a press release, “will give them an opportunity to do something they haven’t been able to do in two decades: premiere brand new Pixies songs, the first collection of new material since 1991’s Trompe le Monde.

That’s not all, as Black Francis states: ”Along with everyone’s favorites, we’ll be playing songs that we haven’t played in ages or never played live before. Songs like ‘Brick is Red,’ ‘Havalina,’ ‘Tony’s Theme.’ and ‘Sad Punk.’  We’ve probably rehearsed some 80 songs, so we’ll be able to change up the set at the last minute if we feel like it.  We’re all really looking forward to this tour.”

As for Deal’s replacement, the band has confirmed that bassist Kim Shattuck has joined the lineup. Shattuck formerly played bass for all-girl LA garage rock outfit The Pandoras and was also guitarist for The Muffs. Currently, the new outfit’s all “holed up in an L.A. rehearsal space getting ready to offer the most wide-ranging concert set-lists of Pixies music in the band’s career.”
