Lil Wayne nearly died this year, then dropped a terrible album in I Am Not a Human Being II and appeared on the front page of Drudge Report after he stepped on an American flag during a video shoot. Needless to say, it definitely hasn’t been one of his better years.

On Twitter yesterday, Lil Wayne issued an apology: “Noticed I wasn’t nominated nor involved n da MTV VMA’s nor da BET awards…I apologize to my fans and I promise 2 work harder if it kills me.” (Given Wayne’s recent health issues, it probably wasn’t the best idea to suggest he’s willing to kill himself for his craft, but it’s the thought that counts.)

The recharged Lil Wayne isn’t wasting any time either. Today, he announced that his next project, the Dedication 5 mixtape, will be arriving on August 30th. Past installments in the Dedication series have found Wayne rap over popular beats in hip-hop. That’s the artwork, below.
