Indie-pop choir boy and masterful harpist Pat Grossi, a.k.a. Active Child, has remained mostly dormant since 2011’s excellent You Are All I See. This week, however, the Los Angeles native makes his return with a track called “She Cut Me”, off his forthcoming Rapor EP.

Interestingly enough, the cut is without Grossi’s signature heavenly, bring-you-to-your-knees falsetto, but is instead built solely on striking, almost theatrical, musical arrangements (the strings sound especially foreboding). While we do miss his voice — Grossi contributes only sounds: coos, hums, airy ahh’s — the instrumental still manages to stir up a hefty amount of drama not unlike some his of best past material.

Rapor has no official release date, but is said to be due out soon.
