Meet Dave and A Thousand Words star Eddie Murphy has finally returned to his musical roots for the new millennium with “Red Light”. The reggae-cruiser marks Murphy’s first piece of music since 1993’s R&B clunker Love’s Alright, an album which managed to squeeze in a duet with Michael Jackson. This time around, however, he’s found a new distinguished gentleman in Snoop Lion, f.k.a. Snoop Dogg, who adds a flavorful verse at the end here. It’s no “Party All the Time” or “To Be Loved”, but hey, it’s just good to see the former Detroit cop back in the saddle again — musically, that is. Stream below.

The track spearheads Murphy’s big comeback solo album, 9, which has yet to receive a release date. Though, you can follow him on his new Twitter account if you’re looking to update that calendar of yours. Sweet.
