The Coen brothers’ latest film, Inside Llewyn Davis, has already picked up some resounding reviews ahead of its December 6th release. Its T Bone Burnett-produced soundtrack has comparable buzz with the likes of Bob Dylan, Justin Timberlake, and Punch Brothers contributing. Trailers have been teasing a rendition of the folk standard “Fare Thee Well (Dink’s Song)” as performed by Marcus Mumford and the film’s lead, Oscar Isaac, and now the full version has been revealed.
Say what you will about Mumford’s recently-hiatused band, but the man’s got quite a folksy twang, and his harmonies with Isaac hit a sweet spot. Add in all the strums, bows, and plucks of various strings going on, and the whole song coalesces into one handsome number. Listen below (via IndieWire).
As previously reported, the Coens and Burnett will host the “Another Day Another Time” concert celebrating music from Inside Llewyn Davis at New York City’s Town Hall this Sunday, the 29th. Mumford and Isaac are set to appear, as is Mumford’s wife and co-star, Carey Mulligan, plus Jack White, Patti Smith, The Avett Brothers, Conor Oberst, The Decemberists’ Colin Meloy, and Joan Baez.
The Inside Llewyn Davis OST is due November 12th, and can be pre-ordered now.
