sexysocialite Listen: Chromeos ridiculous new song, Sexy Socialite

Chromeo’s Dave 1 and P-Thugg recently took part in a Reddit AMA, where they insisted that their forthcoming third studio album, White Women, would be “Better, Funkier, Poppier, Catchier, Happier.” Their latest single, “Sexy Socialite”, embraces that description though adds one more descriptor: “Sillier.” With assistance from drummer Pat Mahoney (LCD Soundsystem, Museum of Love), the outfit struts their shoulders and does a variety of whacky dances over a bassline that would impress Spinal Tap’s Derek Smalls. Thanks to over-the-top lyrics (“Watch out for girls that push/ guys that grab your tush”) and a Bonnie Tyler-approved gallop, “Sexy Socialite” files evenly next to recent cut “Over the Shoulder”. Stream below.

In related news, Chromeo will appear on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on October 29th, the same day the above single will be available on iTunes. Once more, there’s no proper release date for the album, but we do know it includes appearances from Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig, Solange Knowles, and Toro Y Moi.
