Since announcing plans to focus more on music, Donald Glover, a.k.a. Childish Gambino, hasn’t exactly been a wellspring of new material. Over the last few months, he’s dropped just one new single, “Centipede”, and previewed an assortment of snippets in his first-ever short film, Clapping for the Wrong Reasons. However, we’re bound to hear much more very soon as the actor-rapper tweeted on Friday that he’s completed the follow-up to 2011’s Camp.
And just like that, we received our first preview from the album with the debut of an unnamed song during yesterday’s Penn State homecoming concert. Gambino tackles relationship woes on the funk-inspired number with a mix of breathy croon and rapid-fire flow, reminiscent of a more melodic version of the Camp track “Heartbeat”.
