Tyler, the Creator appeared on last night’s episode of The Arsenio Hall Show, but he didn’t perform. Rather, the Odd Future head honcho sat down — or, laid down — and spoke to Arsenio about a variety of topics, including Tyler’s decision to not drink or use drugs; his criticism toward the YouTube Music Awards; and Odd Future’s carnival, Camp Flog Gnaw, which takes place in Los Angeles this weekend.
Tyler was also asked about his usage of explicit language, to which he replied: “You can take a power out of that word. The way I see things, you chose to be offended if you care more about stuff like that. That may sound ignorant, but if you’re a black person and you get offended… but if I know that I’m not an ‘n-word’, I’m not going to get offend. Frank [Ocean]’s gay and I use that word all the time and he doesn’t care, because he knows me. He knows when I say that word I’m not thinking of his sexual orientation.”
Lastly, Tyler was asked whether he follows politics and his opinion on President Barack Obama. “I don’t really get into it, because I like doing fun stuff,” he replied. “But I realized, he’s an ‘n-word’ who figured it out.”
