Earlier this year, Rilo Kiley released RKives, a rarities compilation of unreleased material and B-sides from the now defunct band’s lengthy 10-year run. Now, one of its 16 tracks, a wistful number titled “Emotional” receives an equally moving video. Directed by Austin Nagler, the clip sets Jenny Lewis’ words on feelings and loss against a backdrop of old black-and-white footage from the ’50s and ’60s — some fun, some silly, and some downright painful. “The video makes me think of the way Bill Hicks would often end his act by saying ‘The world is like a ride at an amusement park,'” Nagler commented. “When I originally cut the video, I put footage of Hicks performing that quote with half of it before the vid and the other half after.”
