Gary Clark Jr. announces Blak and Blu: The Mixtape, streams title track feat. Big K.R.I.T

on January 21, 2014, 4:28pm

Gary Clark. Jr. is on a roll lately. He’s road trippin’ with Kings of Leon, been nominated for two Grammys, where he’ll also be performing, and now he’s set to drop Blak and Blu: The Mixtape. Hosted by D-Nice, the forthcoming free collection bundles the bluesman’s unreleased music and reworkings off his 2012 debut, pairing him alongside Big K.R.I.T., Erykah Bady, Talib Kweli, Bilal, and Robert Glasper.

If you’re at a loss for what those collaborations might produce, try to imagine what happens when country rap gets fried with Texas-smoked blues rock. Or, just listen to the title track below featuring Big K.R.I.T. and “knuckle up, knuck and buck, shake your dreads.” You know, that ol’ dance.

Currently, there’s no release date for when the rest will drop.
