Jay Z, Will Smith, and Calvin Harris team up for TV comedy about electronic music

I’ve long obsessed over the idea of Jay Z and Will Smith working together, though more on the level of collaborative hip-hop album than Annie remake. But now, as Deadline points out, King HOV and Prince Smith have announced a new project that makes the Annie film look likeThe Big Jiggy Style LP I’ve always dreamt of: an electronic music comedy series alongside DJ Calvin Harris.

Jay and Smith are co-producers of Higher, a half-hour series currently in development at HBO. While it’s without a plot, cast members, a director, or even an air date, Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh is currently penning the script alongside Harris. (Here’s hoping there’s plenty of storylines about rival DJs competing over the same Icelandic singer for their remix, or somebody mixing up the molly with Tic-Tacs during the visit of some famous label rep). In addition to HOV, Smith, and Harris, the show will be executive produced by Overbrook Entertainment and Three Six Zero Group.

Until more details emerge, enjoy a few standouts from their respective careers:
