Listen: Miles Davis’ unreleased 10-minute jam “Spanish Key”

on January 22, 2014, 3:53pm

Good news, Jazzheads: Miles Davis’ game-changing sets at New York’s Fillmore East and San Francisco’s Fillmore West are being repackaged and expanded upon as a new collection titled, Miles at the Fillmore: Miles Davis 1970: The Bootleg Series Vol. 3.

Due out March 25th via Columbia/Legacy, the exhaustive, unedited bundle spans his entire four-night residency in the Big Apple, while also packing in more than 100 minutes of previously unreleased music from his time in the Bay Area.

As a teaser, Rolling Stone has premiered an unreleased jam in “Spanish Key”, one of several highlights from his Fillmore West performance. It’s a 10 minute orgy of unadulterated brass, keeping a night alive in an encore that was probably more than deserved. Stream it below.
