Listen: ScHoolboy Q’s new song, “Break The Bank”, produced by The Alchemist

on January 21, 2014, 1:44pm

Back in December, Los Angeles rapper ScHoolboy Q confirmed a February 25th release date for his long-awaited major label debut, Oxymoron. Now, he’s revealed more details, including a tentative tracklist, the adorably menacing album artwork (above), and a brand new single, “Break the Bank”, produced by The Alchemist.

As always, Q can shift his personality at the turn of a beat, as evidenced by organic transitions from the more cerebral “Collard Greens” to the raucous “Banger”. With “Break the Bank”, Q gets rather manic and lethal, as he spits “Astro on my cap, this shot ain’t no phone app/ Chucks on my young heel, make sure that my sag ill/ Learn my set grill, trade in my big wheel” over Alchemist’s jarring blend of droning piano and old-school, truck-rattling bass.

Listen in below.

According to the tentative tracklist on iTunes, Oxymoron is set to feature “Collard Greens”, “Man of the Year” (from the NBA Live 14 soundtrack), and “Break The Bank”.
