Watch: Katy B covers Arctic Monkeys and Ben Pearce… at the same time

on January 28, 2014, 2:10pm

Katy B knows how to handle a cover, having previously delivered a spot-on, ache-filled rendition of One Direction’s “Story Of My Life” and a holly jolly cover of the Christmas standby “Sleigh Ride”. Today, during a BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge session, she simultaneously took on Arctic Monkeys’ AM single “One For The Road” and U.K. producer Ben Pearce’s club anthem “What I Might Do”.

Though likely a tough task for most, the British songstress blends the seemingly dichotomous elements into one sultry, neo-funk ballad with little more than an electric piano, some crisp backing harmonies, and her own multi-faceted vocals. Catch the replay below.

Katy B will release her new album, Little Red, on February 10th via Rinse/Columbia. For sounds from that effort, check out “Crying For No Reason”“5am”, and “I Like You”.
