Big Boi confirms: there will be no new OutKast album

on February 20, 2014, 11:20am

Despite rumors to the contrary, OutKast will not be issuing a new album. The official word comes from Big Boi himself, who set the record straight during a recent interview with RevoltTV.

When asked whether the Atlanta duo will release a new LP to coincide with their 40-date festival tour and 20th anniversary, he replied, “No, no, no. We’re just doing the tour only, just for the fans. That’s all it is, just the tour.”

Big went on to say, “It’s just the Outkast 20th year anniversary, just a way for us to celebrate with our fans, but there’s no album in the works, no”.

Fans may be disappointed by the news, but there’s still reason to celebrate. Aside from their massive festival schedule, both André 3000 and Big Boi are reportedly working on solo albums. Plus, it seems Big Boi’s putting together a Game of Thrones-inspired mixtape.

“I think it’ll be out in the next couple of weeks,” he told RevoltTV. “We got Common, Wale doing something, and I’m doing a track as well on there. And a couple surprise guests.”
