Indie-rock supergroup Avey Tare’s Slasher Flicks announce debut album, US tour dates

on February 10, 2014, 8:37am

Avey Tare has temporarily put Animal Collective on the backburner and formed an indie-rock supergroup alongside ex-Dirty Projectors member Angel Deradoorian and drummer Jeremy Hymn (Ponytail, Dan Deacon). They call themselves Avey Tare’s Slasher Flicks and on April 8th, they’ll release their debut LP, Enter the Slasher House, through Domino Records.

According to a press release:

Having composed the bones of these eight songs on acoustic guitar, Avey Tare invited Deradoorian to create melodic lines to flesh them out. Then, enter Hyman, whose backgrounds in painting and music proved his rare combo of flexibility and acuity, “free but structured.” Uniquely its own “jazz power trio,” Slasher Flicks produced and recorded the songs live at the Lair studio using only minimal overdubs; the live sound being key to Slasher Flicks’ spooky dynamism.

One of those eight tracks, “Little Fang”, is streaming below. Apparently, a special smoke called “PYT” was blown into the tap machine and “shows off spirits conjured from sweeter worlds.”

Enter the Slash House Tracklist:
01. A Sender
