Listen: Brody Dalle’s new solo song “Meet The Foetus / Oh The Joy” featuring Garbage’s Shirley Manson

on February 11, 2014, 5:30pm

After churning out punk jams for nearly 15 years as frontwoman of The Distillers and Spinerette, Brody Dalle has announced plans to go solo. Today, she’s shared the first single off her as-yet-titled debut, a broiling track called “Meet The Foetus / Oh The Joy” featuring vocals from Garbage’s Shirley Manson.

Produced by Alain Johannes (Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys), the song finds Dalle singing with attitude while doling out hopeful lines like, “Sh-sh-shot through the heart, baby / I’m gonna love you forever.” Along with a memorable sing-a-long finale, the track also comes equipped with frenzied, explosive guitars which bear a close resemblance to QOTSA’s own harsh shredding. (That may be no coincidence; Dalle and Josh Homme have been married since 2007). Stream the new single below (via NME).

Dalle’s as-yet untitled forthcoming album should see release sometime this year. Along with Shirley Manson, it features contributions from Warpaint’s Emily Kokal, The Strokes’ Nick Valensi, and more.
