The song is a tribute to Antonio Torres Jurado. As Rodrigo explained to Rolling Stone, Jurado “was a luthier from the 18th century” whose “contribution to the world was to give the classical guitar the shape we know it now.” He added, “If it wasn’t for him this album wouldn’t even exist.”
The duo gives the classical guitar pioneer due respect with nimble fingerpicking, highly-textured riffs, and percussive elements, making for quite the jam session. Check out the song and its accompaning visuals below.
In related news, a documentary about the band entitled For Those About to Rock: The Story of Rodrigo y Gabriela will premiere at the SXSW film festival next month.
