Listen: Sufjan Stevens’ project Sisyphus streams new song “Alcohol”

on February 17, 2014, 9:25am

As previously reported, Sufjan Stevens, Chicago emcee Serengeti, and New York composer Son Lux will follow up their joint EP as s/s/s with a new, self-titled album under their new moniker, Sisyphus. Already we’ve heard the album track “Calm It Down”, and today the trio has unveiled “Alcohol”.

It’s a menacing, occasionally frightening single marked by Serengeti’s lightning-fast flow and a soundscape of horror movie organs and rattling drums. Watch the accompanying lyric video below, which pairs the track with an increasingly disturbing collage of movie stills, Internet memes, and bizarre stock photos.

Sisyphus the album is due out March 18th via Asthmatic Kitty and Joyful Noise.
