on February 08, 2014, 10:34am

February 9th marks the 50th anniversary of The Beatles’ first appearance on The Ed Sullivan Show. To help commemorate the occasion, the current occupant of the Ed Sullivan Theater, David Letterman, has hosted a week full of Beatles-inspired performances.

Monday gave us “And I Love Her”, as performed by Broken Bells and Ringo Starr, Tuesday featured Sting taking on “Drive My Car”, Wednesday had Lenny Kravitz tackling “Get Back”, and Thursday brought The Flaming Lips and Sean Lennon together for “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”. Last night, Lauryn Hill closed out Beatles week, covering “Something”, off of the band’s 1969 album, Abbey Road.

The performance marked not only Hill’s first TV appearance since her release from prison, but also her first in three years. Back in 2011, she participated in Bob Marley week on Jimmy Fallon.
