Andrew Jackson Jihad announce new album Christmas Island, share “Children Of God”

on March 18, 2014, 3:15pm

Phoenix folk-punk outfit Andrew Jackson Jihad will release their fifth studio album, Christmas Island, on May 6th via their new label SideOneDummy. The follow-up up to 2011’s Knife Man was produced by John Congleton (St. Vincent, The Mountain Goats, Angel Olsen) and recorded in Dallas, TX. According to a press release, the 12-track album promises to be “a little bit silly, a little bit serious and incredibly powerful.”

As our first taste, the band’s shared lead single “Children of God”, a song that aptly captures Andrew Jackson Jihad’s raw, honest, and witty sound. Anchored by frontman Sean Bonnette’s earnest yet acerbic wail, it features the group’s trademark manic pace, a jaunty piano riff, and ludicrous lines like, “I was a vampire hunter/I was a pregnant mother.” Listen in below (via Noisey).
