Listen: Eels’ new song “Mistakes Of My Youth”

on March 06, 2014, 4:20pm

Eels mastermind Mark Oliver Everett returns today with “Mistakes Of My Youth”, the second track off his most personal project to dateThe Cautionary Tales of Mark Oliver Everett. While he was full of forlorn on lead single “Agatha Chang”, Everett has now found a sense of purpose, seeking a resolution to the endless loop of self doubt and personal ineffectiveness. “I hope it’s not my fate/To keep defeating my own self/And keep repeating/Yesterday,” he hoarsely whispers over the methodical chug of bluesy guitars and strings, sounding absolutely resolute in his newfound pursuit of happiness. Listen in below.

The Cautionary Tales of Mark Oliver Everett is due out April 22nd via Everett’s own E Works. In addition to the standard album, there’ll be a deluxe bonus disc comprised of new cuts, unreleased material, and live tracks from sessions with KCRW and WNYC. Consult both tracklists below.
