Stream: Bradford Cox’s soundtrack to Teenage

on March 04, 2014, 12:41pm

As previously reportedDeerhunter frontman Bradford Cox wrote new, original music for the forthcoming documentary Teenage. The soundtrack will be released on March 11th via Cinereach Music, and you can stream it in full at Pitchfork.

Cox wrote the score for Teenage (Original Soundtrack) back in 2012, creating a 17-track effort that provides another glimpse into his curious experimentalism and broad array of influences he brings to Atlas Sound and Deerhunter. From the bumbling bass line in “Snow On Cape”, the chiming and ambient “New Prairie Blackout Pattern”, to the woozy, reverb-soaked guitars of “Dream Logic” Cox composes a dreamy landscape of diverse and yes, youthful sounds.  Along with Cox’s own songs, the soundtrack also features a composition called “Kate”, a tense post-punk number released in 1980 by then-12-year-old singer Chandra Oppenheim.

Directed by Matt Wolf, Teenage is based off screenwriter Jon Savage’s 2007 book Teenage: The Prehistory of Youth Culture 1875-1945 and hits theaters nationwide on March 14th. Check out the trailer below, followed by the soundtrack’s tracklist.
