Children piggybacking off the musical legacies of their parents is nothing new. Case in point, James McCartney, Jason Bonham, or Jaden Smith. Now comes word that the sons of Eazy-E and Dr. Dre have forged a project under the name Sons of N.W.A.
Dre’s son Curtis Young and Eazy-E’s sons Lil Eazy-E and E3 have been collaborating for a while now and were even the focus of an extensive profile in OC Weekly last fall. Currently, they’re putting the finishing on an album dubbed The DNA Project, which will feature several Death Row Records affiliates, including Daz Dillinger and Kurupt, along with producer Battlecat. They’ve also recorded a new version of “Straight Outta Compton”, which you can preview below.
According to Noisey, Sons of N.W.A. also plan to go on tour this summer and will be joined by actual N.W.A. member DJ Yella. They’re hoping to play club shows and festivals across the U.K. and Europe in July and August.
“The talent is in our blood and it is our birthright. We are very happy and excited that we have this capability to continue what our fathers imprinted the game with,” Lil Eazy said in a statement to OC Weekly. Yea, OK.
