Next time Diddy or Jay Z brags about their total net worth, keep in mind they have actual, indisputable evidence to back it up. Today, Forbes revealed a list of the five wealthiest rappers as of 2014.
Believe it or not, Puff Daddy himself took home the No. 1 spot, with a checking account balance of $700 million. In 2013, Diddy launched his own music channel, Revolt TV, to coincide with his numerous other business ventures.
As someone who hasn’t put out an album in over a decade, these days Dr. Dre is no more a rapper than Jimmy Iovine. Forbes still considers him as such, however, and his net worth of $550 million makes him the second wealthiest emcee. In 2013, Dre and Iovine, along with Trent Reznor, launched their own streaming music service, Beats Music.
No. 3? One Sean Carter, whose worth $520 million. Though, with plans for a stadium tour alongside Beyonce and two installments of his Made in America festival, Jay Z stands to make a lot more in 2014.
