Listen: Antemasque’s “4AM”, the debut single from Mars Volta and Flea’s new band

on April 10, 2014, 10:00am

Yesterday, we learned of the existence of Antemasque, a new supergroup reuniting Mars Volta co-founders Omar Rodríguez-López and Cedric Bixler-Zavala alongside Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea and drummer Dave Elitch. Today, the band is streaming its debut single, “4AM”. Listen below (via SPIN).

The spirited rocker is more akin to Lopez and Bixler-Zavala’s work in At The Drive-In than The Mars Volta, chock full of frantic riffs and fiery vocals. If this is a taste of what’s to come, consider us excited.\

Update: Check out another track from Antemasque called “Hangin in the Lurch”.

No word yet on the band’s next move, but we’ll keep you updated.
