New York musician Jordy Asher, a.k.a. Boots, made a name for himself after producing 85% of Beyoncé’s excellent self-titled album. Since then, he’s stepped into the spotlight with his own solo material, releasing tracks like the sultry “Dust”, sizzling “Ride Ride Ride” featuring Sia, and the Kelela-aided “Autumn (Lude 1)”. Boots continues his hot streak this week with two more new songs titled “My Heart is a Stone Today (Unharmed)” and “Sheep/Lookin’ Muthafucka (Lude II)”. Again testing the boundaries of traditional R&B, both are buzzy, palpitating cuts brimming with silky soul, flickering synths, and even a little jarring wub-wub for good measure.
