Following opening stints for The Rolling Stones and Beth Orton, rising UK singer-songwriter James Bay looks for solace amongst a sea of chaos on his new single “Running”. The track, the latest off his forthcoming Let It Go EP, isn’t a groundbreaking opus by any means, but somehow resonates deeper than most solemn pop cuts of its kind.
Maybe it’s the soothing hum of the piano, the sing-a-long worthy melodies that rise and fall with grace, or the soulful devotion of the whole thing (à la Sam Smith’s “Stay With Me”). Either way, it’s a captivating listen through and through. Check it out below and see for yourself.
Let It Go hits shelves on May 13th.
