The Replacements are coming home. On Saturday, September 13th, Paul Westerberg, Tommy Stinson, Dave Minehan, and Josh Freese will headline St. Paul’s Midway Stadium in what marks their first non-festival gig since reuniting last year.
“We just had to figure out the right one,” Stinson’s manager Ben Perlstein told Minneapolis City Pages, adding that they considered a series of other offers. “It just made so much sense to play in the field of a minor league baseball team right before it gets torn down. It’s going to be the last concert there.” In 2015, the Saints will move the team to St. Paul’s Lowerton, and the final ball game at Midway is scheduled for August 28th.
Tickets for The Replacements are priced at $50 and go on sale Saturday, May 3rd via etix.com, the stadium’s box office, or the Depot Tavern. There will be a four-ticket limit and the band’s Facebook page will offer pre-sale codes this Monday. For reference, the Replacements last performance in the Twin Cities was back in 1991 at Minneapolis’ Orpheum Theater.
Consult the full itinerary below and visit Southwest here. They have wonderful deals to Minneapolis. That one’s on us, guys.
Update: There’s now a poster and a cheekily aggressive radio advertisement circling the net. Check ’em both out shortly after the dates.
