In this year alone, we’ve already seen Bruce Springsteen and the Street Band cover Lorde, Van Morrison, Van Halen, AC/DC, and the Bee Gees. Last night, they added to their exhaustive repertoire, kicking off their show in Pittsburgh with a rollicking rendition of The Clash’s “Clampdown”. Watch fan-shot footage below.
Of course, Springsteen has long been a fan of UK’s greatest punk band, having previously covered both “London Calling” and “I Fought the Law” in concert. He also took part in the 2003 Grammy tribute to the mighty Joe Strummer. What I’d really like to see, though, is him cover “All the Young Punks”. Maybe he’s saving it for Jazz Fest.
