Watch: Queens of the Stone Age reunite with Nick Oliveri for first performance in 10 years

on April 16, 2014, 5:46pm

Back in January 2004, after growing personal tensions finally boiled over, bassist Nick Oliveri was fired from Queens of the Stone Age. Fast forward to late 2012, and it seemed as if the animosity between Oliveri and frontman Josh Homme was finally on the mend. Oliveri invited Homme to guest on a Mondo Generator track, and then, later that spring, Homme invited Oliveri to contribute to the …Like Clockwork track “If I Had A Tail”.

Last night, they reunited once more, as Oliveri joined QOTSA during their gig at Portland’s Keller Auditorium, marking their first live show together in over a decade. While Oliveri didn’t resume his bass duties, he did sing lead on one of three encore tracks,  “You Think I Ain’t Worth A Dollar, But I Feel Like A Millionaire”. Not only was it a fairly rocking rendition, but the band and Oliveri cemented their newly-reformed friendship with a spirited round of hugs. (Oliveri even seems to well up as he departs the stage.) Watch the fan-shot footage below (via Stereogum).

The reunion was the core highlight of a jam-packed, 21-song set, which included …Like Clockwork standouts (“Smooth Sailing, “The Vampyre Of Time And Memory”, and “Kalopsia”) alongside old favorites like “Feel Good Hit Of The Summer”, “Better Living Through Chemistry”, and “Go With the Flow”.
