Jonny Greenwood announces U.S. performances of There Will Be Blood

on May 06, 2014, 3:30pm

Last week, Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood announced that he’d be performing his 2008 Grammy-nominated score for There Will Be Blood live for the first time at London’s Roundhouse in August. Now, he’s announced plans to take the show across the pond to the United States for two nights later this summer.

Scheduled to take place on September 19th and 20th at New York’s United Palace Theatre, it marks the first time the full score’s been played live, alongside the film, in North America. Greenwood, who will swap his guitar for the electrical instrument Ondes Martenot for the performances, will be accompanied by New York City’s own Wordless Music Orchestra. Tickets go on sale May 14th here.

In related news, There Will Be Blood director Paul Thomas Anderson has tapped Greenwood for yet another scoring project, this time an adaption of Thomas Pynchon’s Inherent Vice starring Joaquin Phoenix, Benicio Del Toro, and Owen Wilson.
