Listen: Boris’ fiery new rocker “Vanilla”

on May 19, 2014, 2:45pm

On June 17, Japanese sludge-metal outfit Boris will release their 19th (!) album, Noise. Their “most all-encompassing effort to date” follows a trio of EPs in 2011 and last year’s limited-edition Präparat. Already we’ve heard the LP’s expansive and searing seven-minute single “Quicksilver”, now comes “Vanilla”.

Despite its relatively harmless title, and the fact that it’s shorter in length, the track is nothing to take lightly. Full of monster riffs, wailing vocals, and the punishing crush of drums, “Vanilla” feels like unbridled, in-your-face intensity taken to a whole new level. Watch its foggy yet fierce new video below (via Stereogum).

Noise Tracklist:
01. Melody
02. Vanilla
03. Ghost of Romance
04. Heavy Rain
05. Taiyo no Baka
06. Angel
07. Quicksilver
08. Siest

In support of the album, the band has lined up a U.S. tour scheduled for this July and August.
