on May 21, 2014, 9:24am

Paul McCartney has canceled his upcoming Asian tour after falling ill. Macca, who turns 72 next month, previously canceled his Japanese dates due to the undisclosed illness, but had hoped to still play South Korea on May 28th. However, according to the Associated Press, those plans have now been put on hold as well.

The AP reports that McCartney is suffering from a virus-caused illness, but representatives for the legendary musician declined to comment on his condition.

In a statement released Wednesday, McCartney said: “I was really looking forward to visiting and playing in South Korea for the first time and I’m sorry to be letting fans down. I’m very disappointed by this and hope to be able to visit soon.”

McCartney next scheduled performance isn’t until mid-June, at which point he’ll kick off an extensive leg of North American tour dates. As of now, those shows remain a go.
