Next year, The Jesus and Mary Chain’s groundbreaking debut Psychocandy turns 30 years old. In anticipation of the milestone, the Scottish alternative rock legends will perform the 1985 album in full during a trio of U.K. concerts.
The first performance will take place at London Troxy on November 19th, with subsequent shows at Manchester Academy on November 20th and Glasgow Barrowlands on November 21st. It marks the first time the band has played their native Scotland since 2008. Tickets are set to go on sale at 9am local time on Friday, May 16th.
Lead singer Jim Reid said in a statement (via NME), “Psychocandy was meant to be a kick in the teeth to all of those who stood in our way at the time, which was practically the whole music industry. In 1985 there were a great many people who predicted no more than a six month life span for The Mary Chain. to celebrate the approaching 30th anniversary of the album, we would like to perform it in its entirety. We will also perform key songs from that period that did not feature on the album.”
