Last April, Swedish electronic duo The Knife returned after seven years with their fourth studio album, Shaking the Habitual. Fortunately, there won’t be quite as lengthy of a wait for their next project. On June 17th, the duo will release a new mini-album entitled Shaken-Up Versions, featuring reworked tracks from throughout their discography.
To be released by Rabid Records, the digital LP collects eight tracks that The Knife “reworked especially for the recent North American leg of their Shaking The Habitual tour,” according to a press release. That includes “We Share Our Mothers’ Health” (2006’s Silent Shout), “Bird” (2001’s self-titled debut), “Got 2 Let U” (2003’s Deep Cuts), and more.
If you never caught The Knife’s transcendent live show, check out a small sample with the reworked Shaking the Habitual track “Without You My Life Would Be Boring”, Though subtle, the new version feels a little more manic and unpolished, with dirtier drums and percussion and slightly larger waves of hedonistic energy. Watch the accompanying music video below, which features the wacky hijinx of some Fellini-esque hospital/dance club.
Pre-orders for the album are ongoing.
