Among the goodies included in Led Zeppelin’s forthcoming batch of reissues is an unreleased, “rough mix” version of “Whole Lotta Love” from Led Zeppelin II. Today, the band has unveiled a video for the song; it culls together various performance footage, some of which has rarely been seen. Watch below.
Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, who is overseeing the band’s archival project, said of the song: “This version of ‘Whole Lotta Love’ is the mix down from the night that we recorded it, so it doesn’t have any of the overdubs that everyone will be familiar with, because when they hear this they’ll think, ‘Oh yeah, that’s the original’ and all of a sudden they’ll go ‘No, it’s not.'”
Deluxe reissues of Zeppelin’s first three studio albums — 1969′s Led Zeppelin, 1969′s Led Zeppelin II, and 1970′s Led Zeppelin III — will be available on June 3rd. Each release contains a second disc comprised entirely of unreleased studio and live recordings. Pre-orders are ongoing.
