Caribou announces new album, Our Love, streams “Can’t Do Without You”

on June 03, 2014, 2:48pm

Though Dan Snaith has kept busy with various side-projects, most notably his electro-dance moniker Daphni, it’s been four years since he’s released an album as Caribou. That’ll change on October 7th, when he returns with Our Love, out via Merge Records.

Caribou’s sixth studio album to date, and first since 2010’s Swim, the 10-track effort features collaborations with Owen Pallett and Jessy Lanza. It was mixed by David Wrench and comes packaged in artwork designed by Jason Evans and Matthew Cooper (that’s it up above).

A press release describes Our Love as Caribou’s “most soulful record to date, chock-full of heartfelt lyrics and organic nature which cuts through bubbling synths and blissful euphoria of their synthetic construction.”

In anticipation, Snaith has shared a new song called “Can’t Do Without You”. Shrouded in hazy, humid noise, he purrs a simple lovelorn melody: “I can’t do without you”. Listen in below.

Our Love Tracklist:
01. Can’t Do Without You
02. Silver
03. All I Ever Need
04. Our Love
05. Dive
06. Second Chance
07. Julia Brightly
08. Mars
09. Back Home
10. Your Love Will Set You Free

In support of the album’s release, Snaith has mapped out an extensive world tour as Caribou, which includes dates across the UK, Europe, and America. The latter leg doesn’t officially begin until mid-November, though he’ll play one-offs at Merge’s 25th anniversary festival and Los Angeles’ FYF Fest over the summer. See the full docket below.
