Kimbra announces new album, The Golden Echo, streams two songs

on June 10, 2014, 1:50pm

Kimbra returns with her new album, The Golden Echo, on August 19th via Warner Bros. Records. The 12-track effort serves as the second album to date for the New Zealand pop singer, who earned global recognition for her 2011 smash hit with Gotye, “Somebody That I Used To Know”.

Written in her bedroom studio in Los Angeles, The Golden Echo was produced by Rich Costey (Interpol, The Shins, Fiona Apple) and sees Kimbra tackling everything from disco and funk to hip-hop and piano ballads. In addition to exploring various genres, Kimbra’s enlisted the talent of an insane number of A-list acts, some of which had inspired the Kiwi songstress ever since she was a teen.

Guests include: The Mars Volta’s Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, Dirty Projectors’ Dave Longstreth, Foster the People’s Mark Foster, Muse’s Matt Bellamy, Flying Lotus, John Legend, Thundercat, and Bilal. Several songs were co-written with Silverchair’s Daniel Johns.

Already we’ve heard the frenetic lead single “90s Music”, and now Kimbra’s let loose two more alum tracks, “Love in High Places” and “Nobody But You”, which features John Legend. Listen to both below, followed by the album’s tracklist.
