At the Governors Ball Music Festival last month, Claire Boucher, aka Grimes, debuted a brand new song entitled “Go”. While the track marks her first piece of new material in over a year, Grimes revealed it was originally written for fellow Roc Nation mate and mega pop star Rihanna. Ultimately, however, it was turned down.

Now, courtesy of Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 program, we can finally hear the studio version of “Go” in all its sultry, trap-pop glory. The track was produced by Grimes’ longtime collaborator Blood Diamonds (in one vocal take, no less), and might just be her ticket to mainstream pop radio charts. Your loss, RiRi…

Grimes’ highly-anticipated new album, the follow-up to 2012′s Visions, is expected to see light early next year.
