Early last week, British experimental-R&B artist FKA Twigs announced her forthcoming debut album, the aptly-titled LP1. Today, though, she revisits an earlier stage in her career by releasing a track entitled “Tw-ache”, a self-produced remix of her 2012 single “Ache”.
Sonically, the reworking is a bit more jumbled, shifting from sleek and soulful electro-R&B to a hodepodge of airy vocal samples, rumbling bass, and disjointed synths. The real draw, however, is the accompanying music video, which lets Twigs (with the aid of some camera effects/edits) show off her killer dance moves. Part ballet, part Fame deleted scene, the clip features a routine that alternates between the Avant-garde and the purely primal. On the plus side, if this whole singing thing doesn’t work out, she could always make her way to Dancing with the Stars.
