Watch: TV on the Radio debut new songs at BottleRock Festival

on June 01, 2014, 11:19am

In early 2013, TV on the Radio announced their departure from Interscope to release music through guitarist Dave Sitek’s label Federal Prism. Since then, they’ve released a pair of standalone singles — the upbeat rocker “Mercy” and the more lush, mid-tempo “Million Miles” — and have begun recording their fifth studio album.

On Friday night, the band debuted three new songs during their performance at California’s BottleRock Music Festival, which also served as their first show together in over nine months. In their review of the performance, Stereogum described one of the tracks as a mellow ballad similar to 2011’s Nine Types of Light, while one of the others was a bombastic rock anthem. The third song, which you can watch fan footage of below, is a poppy, upbeat number ala “Mercy”.

TVOTR have several more festival appearances scheduled for the summer and fall, including Riot Fest Denver, Governors Ball, and the Pemberton festival. Consult their full schedule here.
