on July 02, 2014, 10:57am

On August 19th, The Gaslight Anthem will release their fifth studio album, Get Hurtvia Island Records. Our first listen came last week with “Rollin’ and Tumblin'”, and now, the New Jersey punks have revealed the album’s title track.

In interviews, frontman Brian Fallon has discussed his new “first person” songwriting approach, saying, “This time I wrote a lot of direct first-person narratives. You’re talking about yourself, so you have to find new way to do that each time.” It’s no surprise, then, that on “Get Hurt”, the moody, atmospheric sound is accompanied by particularly revealing lyrical tidbits. “Cause I come stumbling through the door, to spend my nights in dislocation,” Fallon croons. Listen in below.

Starting in September, the band will tour with Against Me!, making stops at festivals like Austin City Limits and Ottawa Folk Festival. Check out their schedule here.
