London synth-pop outfit Vaults made their debut last fall with the powerful single “Cry No More”. Since then, the mysterious trio have signed on with Virgin EMI and released a handful of new material, including this week’s “Lifespan”.
A number that’s as lovely as it is bewitching, “Lifespan” features waves of synths that bubble and simmer, offering an intoxicating sense of both urgency and poignancy. Combine this exemplary production with the emotive vocals — their texture reminiscent of Florence Welch’s own epic, cavernous wail — and Vaults seemed to have struck gold once again.
