Listen Wildcat! Wildcat!’s new song “Holloway (Hey Love)”

on July 22, 2014, 11:00am

Before forming Wildcat! Wildcat!, bassist/vocalist Jesse Taylor, keyboardist Michael Wilson, and drummer Jesse Carmichael each played together in various bands and projects throughout Los Angeles. When they finally came together as a singlular unit in late 2012, they instantly found a recipe for success. Their trio of 7-inch singles and an EP were released by local label Neon Gold Records, eventually leading to tours with the likes of Portugal. The Man and Alt-J.

More recently, they hit the studio to record their full-length debut. Together with co-producer/collaborator Morgan Kibby (M83 and White Sea), the trio translated their electronic-tinged indie-pop into a “widescreen vision, a truly sweeping arc and range that creates an emotionally rousing world,” according to a press release. That 10-track album, entitled No Moon at All, is due out August 5th via Downtown Records.

Already the band’s unveiled the uplifting lead single “Hero”, and today they share “Holloway (Hey Love)”. Sweeping seems like the most appropriate descriptor for this slice of cheery indie-pop. Here, the trio blend reverb-heavy drums, ginormous singalong harmonies, and layer upon layer of synth to create the perfect summer bonfire soundtrack. Yet amid all the feel-good vibes and jangly instruments, there exists a core sense of intimacy that makes this track all the more inescapably joyful and life-affirming.
