Last month, Neko Case and longtime collaborator Kelly Hogan unveiled “These Aren’t The Droids”, a hilarious song that pokes fun at teenage boys and the kinds of stuff they tend to obsess over. Now, the track’s received the video treatment and it’s just as chuckle-worthy as you’d expect.
To quote the actual song, the clip reads like a “permanent ComiCon” — costumed characters run amuck, as though being a Stormtrooper or Darth Vader every single day is a totally normal thing to do. Neko continues to show off her comedic chops, switching between a Spock uniform and Princess Leia outfit, while Hogan looks cozy as Chewbacca. Some of the best scenes, though, include guest actress Ellie Kemper (The Office); she plays a girlfriend who just can’t quite get onboard with her Star Wars-infatuated boyfriend. Personally, my favorite moment is when Neko and Hogan sing (blabber, really) “balls, balls, balls!” at the 1:05 mark.
