Listen: Death From Above 1979’s new song “Government Trash”

on August 18, 2014, 1:00pm

Before embarking on their upcoming world tour, Death from Above 1979 played an intimate warm-up show last Thursday at Los Angeles’ Troubadour club. In addition to performing the live debut of “Right On, Frankenstein!”, the duo handed out CDs featuring another new track from their long-awaited sophomore LP, The Physical World. Now, thanks to one attendee, “Government Trash” has made its way online.

After going more of the dance-rock route with lead single “Trainwreck 1979”, the band really lets loose, forging a propulsive, metal-leaning anthem marked by snarling vocals, sweltering guitars, and drums that rain down like mortar fire. You may want to be sitting down, or in a room devoid of valuables, when you press play for this barn burner.

Listen in below.

The Physical World is due out September 9th via Last Gang Records. The band’s world tour kicks off in early October and sees them visiting the UK, much of Europe, and North America before wrapping up in mid-December. Consult their full schedule here.
